MESH & NYLON
Photography • 2025
A series of self-portraits created in an intimate studio setting, shaped by stillness, closeness, and a reduced visual language. Set against a dark background, the artist sits quietly within the frame — present and unguarded. The work invites a slower way of looking, where subtle shifts in posture, texture, and light carry emotional weight.
Working with a low-key aesthetic, the series moves between black-on-black compositions and soft black-and-white images. Mesh, nylon, skin, and shadow gently interact, allowing the body to surface with sensitivity rather than assertion.
In Mesh & Nylon, the artist turns the camera inward, becoming both subject and author. The series also functions as a quiet document of the artist’s own trans body during a time of transition — holding space for change, vulnerability, and self-recognition. It is an act of self-encounter, where presence is not performed but simply allowed to exist.
