ADRIFT AT PEACE
Film • 2023
Collaborative short film by Renée de Sans and Sophia Rose, emerging from spontaneity and shared presence. The work captures a moment between two people—unrehearsed, intuitive, and held in mutual attentiveness.
The film traces how bodies meet, switch, and respond to one another. Touch becomes a language of care and negotiation; control is fluid, exchanged rather than asserted. Within this space, trust is not assumed but practiced—created through listening, restraint, and proximity. Peace appears not as stillness, but as an active state of being with and for one another.
Adrift at Peace explores the paradox of captivation: the one who captivates is also captivated; the one who takes control simultaneously relinquishes it. Vulnerability emerges as strength, and trust as a reciprocal gift. The work holds this balance delicately, allowing intimacy to unfold without spectacle.
